Stricter CoV rules are in effect in Italy as of today. Those traveling on long-distance buses and on high-speed and intercity trains will need proof that they have been vaccinated against Covid-19, tested negative or have recovered. This 3-G rule is not provided for public transportation.
At stations or on trains, rail staff should check certificates, according to Trenitalia. In Italy, the Green Pass is now mandatory for travelers on domestic flights. Anyone traveling by ferry between two Italian regions, for example from Lazio to Sardinia, also needs this proof.
Additional rules apply for the school year that begins again in September. School personnel may only come to work with a green passport – a sometimes controversial regulation. Those who can’t get vaccinated can get free coronavirus tests. Otherwise, there is usually a charge for these in Italy.
